Wilderness and Remote First Aid Course

Wilderness and Remote First Aid (WRFA) courses are designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to respond to medical emergencies in outdoor or remote settings where professional medical help may be delayed or unavailable. The training is based on the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guidelines and aligns with OSHA's Best Practices for Workplae First Aid Training Programs.

The course is 16 hours over the course of a two day period. All candidates must be older than 14, have a valid CPR/AED class with more than a year left on the certification before the end of the class.

The standard course is $200 per participant.

After course completion, all successful participants will recieve a 2 year certification. These courses typically cover a range of topics, including:

Assessments

Learn comprehensive techniques to assess and prioritize injuries in outdoor settings.

Head/Brain, Neck, and Spinal Injuries

Acquire skills for proper assessment and immobilization in cases of head, brain, neck, and spinal injuries.

Heat Emergencies

Understand how to respond to and manage situations involving heat-related illnesses.

Hypothermia

Recognize and treat hypothermia effectively in wilderness environments.

Altitude-Related Illness

Learn to manage and address illnesses related to changes in altitude.

Allergies and Anaphylaxis

Understand and respond to allergic reactions and anaphylaxis in remote areas.

Burns

Acquire first aid skills for treating burns sustained in wilderness settings.

Bone and Joint Injuries

Learn how to assess and manage bone and joint injuries in outdoor scenarios.

Wound and Wound Infection

Develop skills for proper wound care to prevent infections in a wilderness setting.
