Service Description

The First Aid for Severe Trauma (FAST) program is a specialized training course designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively respond to an emergency involving life-threatening bleeding. This training program is aimed at anyone who may find themselves in a situation where they need to assist someone who is bleeding severely, such as emergency medical responders, law enforcement personnel, firefighters, and civilians. During the FAST program, participants will learn how to quickly assess the situation and identify the source of the bleeding. They will also be taught how to apply tourniquets and direct pressure to wounds to control and stop bleeding. Participants will also learn how to manage shock and how to communicate effectively with emergency responders. The program consists of a combination of classroom or online instruction, hands-on training, and simulated scenarios that help participants build confidence and proficiency in responding to emergency situations. Additionally, participants will learn important safety measures to take when dealing with blood-borne pathogens. Upon completion of the FAST program, participants will be better prepared to handle life-threatening bleeding emergencies and potentially save lives in their communities. The skills and knowledge learned in this program are essential for anyone who may find themselves in a situation where they need to assist someone who is bleeding severely. This course will also award a certification valid for two years from the American Red Cross.
